Pratibha Devisingh Patil is the first woman president of India and was the 12th President of India in the time period of 2007-2012. Before that, she was the Governor of Rajasthan from 2004-2007. She was declared as the candidate of UPA on 14 June 2007. Her political career started when she became the Deputy Minister in Public Health, prohibition, tourism, housing and parliamentary affairs for the government of Maharashtra. She was a loyal member of the INC.
