Asia Cup 2018 is nearing its final and the battle this time is between Bangladesh and India. While India is much more experienced, Bangladesh has already achieved so many victories against big teams that it just can’t be taken lightly. India will reach the pitch of Dubai under the captainship of Rohit Sharma and the Bangladeshi team will be headed by Mashrafe Mortaza.

If we look at the history of matches played between India and Bangladesh, most of the big matches are won by the latter. One of the most unfortunate defeats of India by the hands of Bangladesh was in 2016 Champions Trophy. It was a big and embarrassing defeat, seeing the comparatively shorter span of Bangladesh Cricket Team and comparatively more popularity of Indian team in the world.

Focusing on the current face-off, Indian captain Rohit Sharma is returning to the pitch with some new and effective strategy after each match, as if each and every match is helping him and his team grow. Dhoni is also there for providing a right direction to the team. Shikhar Dhawan seems to be in form and so is the pair of star bowlers Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Jaspreet Bumrah. And the biggest thing, the efforts of all these players and others are not giving us a chance to feel the absence of Virat Kohli in the team. The team seems well-equipped even in his absence.

On the other hand, Bangladesh is being haunted by a lot of problems in the tournament, the biggest being the continuous injuries of its players. But let’s not overlook the fact that it managed to make it to the finals against all odds. Capain Mortaza is quite positive about the final match of Asia Cup 2018. According to him, it was unbelievable of Bangladesh team to reach finals back in 2012, because it was not a very big team then. In 2018 however, a lot has changed. Now they are used to play with and defeat many big teams quite frequently. Mortaza is delighted that even in the absence of two of the best players of Bangladesh, the team made it to the final. The fact fills him with optimism. He’s sure that the team will give its best and will not give up till the last ball.

Shikhar Dhawan acknowledges the fact that audience was expecting the final to be played between the traditional arch-rivals India and Pakistan. Dhawan however, thinks it’s better than India will get to play the final with Bangladesh. He is happy that Bangladesh defeated and Pakistan and made its place in the final –not because it’s a big team, but because its performance is remarkable.
There is no denying that Indian team is way bigger and more experienced that Bangladesh, but Bangladesh’s good performance just can’t be taken lightly. While speculations of all cricket-lovers are in the favor of India’s victory, one just can’t consider the enemy weak.
