Volcanoes are the breaking of earth's crust that involves rocks, lava, heat, ashes, gases, etc. Volcanoes are of different types- An active volcano, dormant volcano, and an extinct volcano. They have more types on other basis includes- Cinder cones, Composite volcanoes, Shield volcanoes, and Lava volcanoes. We have different types of volcanoes. This is because of difference forms of volcanoes, release of different harmful gases, explosion of small and large particles, different reasons of forming volcanoes, and many more.
Why do we have different types of volcanoes?

Cinder cones volcanoes are small as the eruptions that makes them are for a short time and eruptions from side are less. Many cinder cones are a result of one emission but some grow bigger with each successive eruption adding layer of cinders to it.
If the magma is thin and in liquid form the gases formed inside can escape easily and the lava flows freely away from the eruption forming gentle slopes known as shield volcanoes.
But if the magma is very thick it cannot flow fast nor the gases can escape from inside,This results in steep sided volcanoes as the lava does not move away from where it got erupted. They are the composite volcanoes.

There are three major types of volcanoes and they are cinder cones , composite volcanoes and shield volcanoes.
Volcanoes have three main categories too which are Active,Dormant and Extinct.
