Nothing can be more disheartening than to see your lovely colorful pets floating lifelessly in the aquarium. One has nothing to do with the normal lifecycle of fish. If more aquarium fish die in a short span, you need to check following things:
• New tank syndrome: Is your tank’s surroundings supportive enough for the survival of fish? An aquarium must achieve an optimal balance of natural bacteria and pH before you let fish into it.
• Check the quality of water. High concentrations of ammonia and nitrite are fatal for fish.
• Frequent or inadequate water changes. Changing water once a week is ideal.
• Overcrowding of fish. This may lead to a spike in ammonia levels that can kill the fish.
• Overfeeding of fish. Excess food deposits in the tank pollute the water.
• Sudden change of temperature. Check whether the tank heater is working properly or not.
• External contamination. Scented lotions, detergents, bleachers and soap can be toxic for the fish.
• Illness caused by parasites and bacteria.

It could be poor quality of water
It could be sudden change in Temperature (Winters)
It could be wrong food feeding ( Some poor quality dead worms also causes death)
