Sure, it came as a big surprise to virtually everyone when Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan announced that they would release the captive IAF pilot Abhinandan as a "gesture of peace".

I believe this is perhaps a great opportunity for us and Indian media to reflect on our radical stance and cry for a war that we've had following the Pulwama terror attack:

i. It's time we give up our cynicism to everything that Pakistani leadership is saying or doing. And for once believe they don’t want an escalation of the situation.

ii. We should stop with the absurd "#FinalStrike" or "#SecondStrike". It's fascinating how even before Pak's decision to release IAF pilot Abhinandan, the media remains obnoxious with their demand for war. Perhaps because these reporters and anchors know they stand nothing to lose whether the IAF and CRPF dies or lives. How they can demand an attack on Pakistan even when IAF pilot was to be released is beyond my understanding!
Coming to your question why Pakistan is "being so nice by releasing IAF pilot Abhinandan": first, as mentioned already, give up the cynicism and for once believe they have no hidden agendas.
Imran Khan and their military know that 44 Indian CRPF jawans lost their lives because of terrorists funded and encouraged by those sitting in Pakistan. They know that Masood Azhar is a terrorist who has orchestrated and masterminded many terror attacks over the years. So, at this moment, with nothing going in their favor, their back is against the wall and there's nothing else they can really do.

India, thanks to its strong diplomatic ties, managed to build massive support on the global front. And this further added to the pressure on Imran Khan and the country's military.
Understand that Pakistan is not a "troubled" or "terror" state as the Indian media propagates. It's just like any other democracy in making. The biggest challenge for them is terrorism, which has caused them more harm than to others by the way. To survive in the globalized world and promote development, they know they can’t survive alone. They need support from other nations. This is why they had no other option but to succumb to the pressure from other countries, including powerful ones like the US, UK, and France. (And the unnerving silence from their staunch ally China added to their trouble.)
So, Pakistan had to act in a way that delivered legit signals that it really wanted peace with India. Perhaps releasing IAF pilot Abhinandan was their best bet. However, as mentioned, them acting this quick was quite a surprise for many.

So, I believe, instead of being skeptic and cynic about their motive, we should certainly thank Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan for this gesture. Since they have taken the right first step, it's time for us to take the next step. This isn't to say we forget the Pulwama Terror attack and martyrdom of 44 jawans. This means Indian side work with Pakistan and takes stringent actions against terrorists together.
BUT right now, instead of pulling the revenge narrative, let's just rejoice over the return of our pilot.
