Bhaidooj is one of the important Indian festival which is very special for brother and sister. The story behind this festival is that once Yamuna invited her brother Yam raaj to her palace. Yamuna was so happy to see Yam raaj at her place. She greets him by applying teeka on his forehead, performing arthi and offered him sweets to eat and gave him a small gift as token of love. Yam raaj was so blessed by his sister's love and affection and asked her to wish a boon. Yamuna asked Yam raaj to visit her every year on this day. Yam raaj granted her this boon and said that, any brother who will go her sister on this day and recieves thilak on this day will never be sent to hell and will live long life. Since then the custome of celebrating bhaidooj started.Article image
