I am not surprised that these words have come from the giant campaigner of BJP and the current UP CM, Yogi Adityanath. I mean, what would you expect from the leaders of a political party which functions and rules according to the ideologies of RSS.

Is Yogi Adityanath right that women can’t be independent?

There is nothing much to surprise about the statement. What more can you expect from the chief minister of a state where cows feel more protected than women there. Or should I say not even cows are safe there (considering the number of cow fatalities in the cow shelter) The one who can be left free or independent are the workers of Hindu yuva Vahini, Romeo squad and and other cow vigilants.
This statement can only be expected from YoGi who himself has a serious record of crimes against him and thus there is nothing to feel pity for his ailed thinking.
The party itself gave the slogan of "Beti bachao and Beti padhao" reflecting the patriarchal ideology. The party not supporting the views of Congress manifesto to include a specific number of seats for women in the parliament, how can it be expected to work for the welfare of the women.
Considering his statement, it means that he is also accusing the women in his cabinet and in the Center not capable of being left free and thus a proper monitoring of their activities need to be done. How can a CM afford to have Such a sick mentality? Only he knows.
And I don't know how the state and the nation can prosper with such leaders. This statement has come at a point when moral code of conduct is applicable by the Election Commission, meaning thereby kicking the rules like anything.
One can do nothing about such comments, just feel pity of their thinking and ensure people of such ideology doesn't come to power.
