No. Currently, there are no operational government-run medical colleges in Gurugram city. I remember when I was searching for government medical colleges in Gurugram, expecting to find at least one option within the city. However, I was surprised to learn that there were no functioning government medical colleges available for MBBS admission at that time.

That being said, the situation is expected to change in the near future. One project that has received a lot of attention is Shri Sheetla Mata Devi Medical College. From the information available about the project, it is being developed as a major government medical institution and is nearing completion. Once operational, it is expected to become the first government medical college in Gurugram.

What makes this project particularly significant is its planned infrastructure. The facility is expected to include a 900-bed hospital, a trauma centre, academic blocks, and around 100 MBBS seats. It has also been reported that a portion of the seats and hospital beds will be reserved for Haryana residents. Because of these features, many students and healthcare professionals are closely following its progress.

Until the college becomes fully operational, students from Gurugram who wish to pursue MBBS through government institutions generally need to consider colleges in nearby cities and districts. Some of the commonly considered options include institutions in Haryana as well as reputed government medical colleges in neighboring regions.

The same applies to patients seeking advanced government healthcare facilities. For many years, people from Gurugram have often relied on major government institutions such as Pt. B.D. Sharma PGIMS in Rohtak and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi for specialized treatment and medical services.
