As India Becomes Richer, Why More Indians Leave Country?

Because there’s a big difference between being rich and socio-economic progress. Middle-east is rich but the life satisfaction there is rather poor.

Countries like India can get super rich, continue with its fast urbanization rate, and enjoy higher GDP but the cultural problems that are deep-rooted to the country can never be solved. And this is perhaps the biggest reason why people continue to leave the country.

Some are leaving to seek a better standard of life. And then there are plenty who are leaving India because they want a better lifestyle.

Now, don’t get it wrong and call me “anti-national”, as the trend is. India’s culture is rich and decent. But then different people have different needs and preferences. They want a different environment and not necessarily a “better living”.

For instance, a country can get rich, BUT can it change how nice or bad its citizens are? Certainly NOT!!!! People want to leave India and move to, say, the likes of Japan, France, Ireland, Italy, Canada, New Zealand, Germany, and Thailand because the culture of these countries have shaped the people there to be nicer, helpful and relatively happier.

Migration has always been a collective and customary idea. If you don’t like where you are living, relocate and move to a different place. But with the dusk of geographical boundaries and now the narrations like nationalism and anti-nationalism, it has become very difficult to even bear the idea of leaving one’s country for another. But this doesn’t mean that people do not want it anymore.

Millions of people still want to move from one place to another – it includes from India and to India – in search of a better living, better culture and happy environment. So, I don’t understand why people have a meltdown when talking about such groups who are leaving their countries.

They don’t need to live in one place to prove their love for that place. And on top of that, one doesn’t have to love the place she/he lives on in the first place.

People want better lives. And if they think it’s outside India, their decision shouldn’t be objected.

In short, people leaving India has very less to do with how rich India is and how fast (or slow) it is progressing. If I were to guess, the lifestyle, culture, mindset of people, corruption, population, respect for rules and regulation, traffic snarls, pollution and a dearth of opportunities are the reasons why people are migrating – at least in this country.
