Indian Air Force recently shocked Pakistani terrorists (and government alike), with what is now proudly being hailed as Surgical Strike 2.0. These IAF jets very successfully destroyed the terrorist camps of Jaish e Mohammed in Balakot, claiming around 200 casualties in the region.

Mirage -2000 are the laser-guided bombs which were used to win the Kargil War with Pakistan back in 1999. Since then, the Dassault manufactured air jets have been considered to be highly reliable and effective. So it was not a surprise that Indian Air Force chose Mirage despite having many other air jets like Sukhoi Su-30MKI and Tejas LCA.
Mirage-2000 was bought from the French company Dassault Aviation in 1982, as an answer to Pakistan’s purchase of the US manufactured F-16 fighter jets. It was with the same deadly jets that
India defeated Pakistan in 1999. To remind you all, Dassault is the same company with whom the Rafale Deal has been signed.
Now coming straight to your question, following are the specifications of IAF Mirage-2000:
• The engine that is used in Dassault Mirage 2000, SNECMA M53 are light-weighted as they have a single shaft.
• Primarily, the jets are a single seat, but the design allows them to accommodate two seats according to the force’s requirements.
• Length of the jet: 14.36 meter
• Takeoff weight: 17000 kg
• Mirage 2000 India jets have the wingspan of 91.3 meter
• The maximum speed of the jets is 2336 kmph.
• They can travel up to 1550 km with drop tanks.
• Mirage is equipped with a fly-by-wire flight control system.
• The navigation and weapon firing data are displayed through Sextant VE-130 HUD.
• The fighter jet is also equipped with a Thomson-CSF RDY Radar on board.
• Mirage -2000 can carry laser-guided bombs and air missiles.
