What is RLWL?

RLWL stands for Remote Location Waiting List. It is a type of waiting list for train tickets in India. RLWL tickets are issued for intermediate stations (between the originating and terminating stations) on a train route. These stations are usually the most important towns or cities on the route.

RLWL tickets have a separate priority from other types of waiting lists, such as GNWL (General Waiting List). However, the chances of an RLWL ticket getting confirmed are generally lower than the chances of other types of waiting lists. This is because RLWL tickets are only confirmed if there are cancellations from confirmed tickets at the intermediate station for which the ticket was issued.

Here is a simple analogy to understand RLWL:

Imagine a train that is traveling from city A to city C, with a stop at city B along the way. City B is a remote location compared to cities A and C.

If you want to book a ticket from city A to city B, and there are no confirmed tickets available, you may be issued an RLWL ticket. This means that your ticket will be confirmed only if there are cancellations from confirmed tickets from city A to city B.

The chances of your RLWL ticket getting confirmed will depend on a number of factors, such as the number of passengers who have booked RLWL tickets for the same station, and the number of passengers who are likely to cancel their confirmed tickets.
