MBA and other management programmes are among the highest-demand courses accessed through CUET PG, and the eligibility structure here is notably more open than many candidates expect — the biggest barrier tends to be competition for seats, not the eligibility bar itself.
Question paper code: MBA and general management specializations (Marketing, Finance, HR, and similar tracks) are tested under the COQP12 (General – Management) paper code. Some specialized management tracks — such as Healthcare or Hospital Management — may fall under a separate, distinct code at certain universities, so always cross-check the exact code your target university expects before finalizing your application, rather than assuming every management specialization shares the same code.
Qualifying degree: Unlike science or law programmes, MBA eligibility through CUET PG places no restriction on your undergraduate stream. A Bachelor's degree in any discipline — B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., B.Tech., BBA, or otherwise — from a recognised university qualifies you to apply. This openness is a deliberate design choice, since management education is generally considered stream-agnostic at the postgraduate entry level, unlike, say, an MCA which expects a computing background.
Minimum marks: Most participating universities require 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying degree for General, OBC-NCL, and EWS candidates, with the standard 45% threshold for SC/ST/PwD candidates (a 5% relaxation). As with all CUET PG programmes, this percentage requirement is set by the individual university, not by NTA itself — so always verify your target institution's exact figure rather than assuming a universal 50% applies everywhere.
Stream restrictions: None. This is one of the more genuinely inclusive postgraduate pathways available through CUET PG — candidates from engineering, commerce, humanities, and pure sciences all compete on equal footing for eligibility purposes.
Where it gets more selective: While the eligibility bar for MBA is broad, several premium or specialized MBA tracks — particularly at institutions known for management education — may prioritize candidates with relevant work experience, quantitative aptitude, or specific academic backgrounds during the counselling and interview stage, even if such factors aren't formal eligibility prerequisites. This means clearing the basic eligibility criteria gets you into the applicant pool, but final seat allocation at competitive institutions can still favor candidates with additional relevant experience or aptitude, especially in a Group Discussion or Personal Interview round where one is conducted.
A practical note for candidates from a non-commerce or non-management background: since there's no subject-lock for MBA, a strong CUET PG management-paper score can meaningfully offset the absence of a business-related undergraduate degree — something that isn't true for more subject-restricted programmes like MCA or certain MSc streams.
Finally, don't confuse CUET PG's MBA eligibility with the requirements of standalone national management entrance exams like CAT, XAT, or CMAT — those are entirely separate tests with their own eligibility rules, and clearing CUET PG for a management paper code doesn't automatically make you eligible for those, nor vice versa. If a specific business school accepts multiple entrance routes, always verify which score they're using for which seat category before assuming your CUET PG result is universally applicable across every management admission path at that institution.
