Both CRPF and BSF forces are for the security of the civilians. The difference between CRPF and BSF lies in the way of functioning of the two.


Border Security Force (BSF):

BSF is also referred to as First Line Defense. This force controls the Border Security area. It also handles crimes like drug smuggling, terrorism, and wars.

The refugees that try to cross the border are also controlled and stopped by the BSF. It guards the territorial area of along with Indian army and also stops illegal immigration. The commandos and para commandos of BSF help in raiding the sites dealing with illegal activities.

Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF):

One of the main duties of CRPF is to control the riots and mobs in the particular regions of the country. To control and fight with terrorists also comes under the task of CRPF Jawans. In addition, they give protection to VIPs and execute rescue and relief operations at the time of disasters and calamities.

It is also responsible for the security at the time of elections.
