Both Dr. Verghese Kurien and Tribhuvandas Kishibhai Patelare considered as the Founders of Amul,but after the death of Tribhuvandas Kishibhai Patel the responsibility of Amul was taken by Dr. Verghese Kurien.

Amul was founded in 1946 by Tribhuvandas Kishibhai Patel, under the guidance of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. However, it is the visionary leadership of Dr. Verghese Kurien, known as the "Father of the White Revolution," that turned Amul into a global powerhouse.

The cooperative was established in Anand, Gujarat, as a response to the exploitation of local milk producers by middlemen. Tribhuvandas Patel served as the first chairman, while Dr. Kurien managed the operations, creating a unique "Anand Model" that empowered millions of farmers. Today, Amul is owned by the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF).
