Different flowers have different colors because the ultraviolet rays they absorb are responsible for what color they are. If you take away these rays, the flower will not be able to develop its darkest pigment, resulting in a less colorful flower.

So why did plants evolve to send these rays back out? Because when it is dark outside, flower colors can still stand out! After all, it’s much easier for pollinators like bees and butterflies to find flowers when day-blooming plants are in full bloom.
