what is astrology

Everything in this entire universe is connected to each other. What has most inspired a sense of wonder in mankind are the stars far above. These stars and planets have been used as celestial guides for human affairs since the dawn of time. Technically, astrology is the study of the correlation between the heavenly bodies and events on earth. Astrology is a science of the stars - derived from the Latin word - astrologia - study of the stars.

The Hindi word for Astrology is Jyotish – which literally translates to the 'eye of the Veda'. Astrology is an incredible tool of self-discovery, no matter how far you decide to take it. At first, the pieces of the puzzle may not seem to fit. But if you stick with it, at a certain point it "clicks" and the orchestrations of the cosmic dance make sense.

Astrology is best categorized as a metaphysical discipline or an occult science. It uses a combination of scientific knowledge about the cosmos, scientific tools, intuition, and psychology. It focuses on energy patterns. A person who practices Astrology is called an Astrologer. An Astrologer or Jyotish studies the movements of planets and their effects on individuals and predicts accordingly. The celestial system known as the Zodiac is divided into 12 Zodiac Signs starting from Aries and continuing till Pisces. There are nine planets that are studied in astrology i.e., sun, moon, mars, mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu. The twelve houses in a horoscope and the twelve signs together form the base of astrology. Jupiter and Venus are the natural benefic planets and sun, Saturn, Mars, Rahu, and Ketu are natural malefic planets. Every sign, every house, and all the planets have their own characteristics.

Astrology also deals with the theory of karma and teaches the learnings of Geeta. It moves us past the surface-level focus on what we are doing, to why we are doing it, and into the deeper need or desire beneath. This type of understanding leads to increased acceptance, compassion, sense of meaning and purpose, and inspiration to evolve. Astrology is the most profound sacred science known to man. It is a glorious harmonization of science and spirit.

Astrology can reveal one's life purpose, one's ascension path, and provide tremendous clarity on all matters of love, family, health, career, finance, education, experience, and of course, spirit. It offers solutions to life's most difficult, seemingly hopeless challenges as well as revealing pathways to manifesting abundance and success at spectacular levels. It empowers individuals by helping them understand their inherent strengths and potentials that they may embrace and develop them with vigor.
