Food is, we all know, a basic necessity. But what we don’t know is that it doesn’t only affect our ***** growth, development, or functions, but also our state of emotions. That’s about food. But what about the denial of food?

Dieting too, has certain effects on our psychology and emotions, as it restricts our diet in many ways. We all know that we are happy when mom prepares our favorite food and not-so-happy when the food cooked at home is not of our liking. But scientifically, the emotions due to food restrictions are way too complex than this.
According to a study, women are affected more by variations in diet than men, and hence need more nutrient rich diet. Mental distress and breakdown in women is experienced when they are devoid of a balanced diet, while in men, it is experienced in very extreme and rare cases of nutritional deficiency. So the mood support in women is highly diet based (maybe that’s the reason women are considered more moody and emotionally whimsical as compared to men).

Another scientific studies claim that women are more vulnerable to depression and anxiety as compared to men, and the conclusions of both the studies can be seen in conjunction with each other. Our day to day experiences like mood swings due to eating too much sweets or oily food in women also points towards the same results.

This explains the differential brain volumes and connectivity in males and females, according to researchers who conducted the study published in the journal Nutritional Neuroscience.
