India is known for its diverse ecosystems, but only a few states have achieved extremely high levels of forest cover. According to the India State of Forest Report, four states—Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, and Manipur—have more than 75% of their total geographical area covered by forests.

These states are located in the North-Eastern region of India , which is characterized by heavy rainfall, hilly terrain, and favorable climatic conditions that support dense vegetation and rich biodiversity.
