Just about to start, Ganesha Chaturthi or Ganesha Utsav is celebrated all over India with equal enthusiasm and excitement. For 10 days, people worship Lord Ganesha and indulge themselves in festivities just like in any other festival or religious occasion. According to the scriptures, Ganesha Chaturthi is when Lord Ganesha was born. This year, Ganesha Chaturthi will commence on 13 September and will last till 23rd.
On Ganesha Chaturthi, people place the idol of Lord Ganesha in their homes for 10 days, and on the 10th day offer the idol to the sea. In these 10 days, Lord Ganesha is treated as a guest of the house and people worship him. That is the way of impressing Lord Ganesha.
How to worship Lord Ganesha:
• In the material of the Pooja, incorporate Durva and Shami.
• Make a separate, special place for the idol of Lord Ganesha in your Poojaghar. Decorate the platform of the idol beautifully.
• On the platform, spread the cloth of yellow color and then place the idol on it. Also, place a Kalash (vessel), and worship it first of all.
• Make the idol of Lord Ganesha bath with Gangajal and apply the tika of turmeric, red vermillion, and rice on the idol.
• Offer a garland of flowers and Durva and Shami to the idol. Light a lamp with ghee. Now worship Lord Ganesha and offer Modak and Laddu.
• Practice this for 10 days in the morning and evening.
