Customer service job is not at all a cake walk job. It is very difficult to satisfy a customer and at a same time to be productive to the company which hires you. You have to use your smartness, patience and skill to attract customers. Simultaneously you have to see that the company is not making losses due to replacements and return of products from customers.
Depending on your experience you may directly deal with customers or you may be managing sales and customer service people under you. If you are dealing directly with customers you should handle them with smile in your face even if they are wrong. But while managing your subordinates you should be balanced in your attitude. You should listen to both your superiors and subordinates.
Customer service executives should have ability to resolve the problems raised by customers. They should know all the details of their company's products in finger tips.
If the customer service they are providing is for online ecommerce sites, the customer service executives should know every formalities of online shopping like - opening the new customer account, selecting the product, availability of the products, online payment and delivery details.
It is the duty of the customer service executive to keep records. And they have to inform the store or company about the demand for any particular product and arrangements for its availability.
So it is not at all a relaxing job. Customer service executives always have to run on their toes. But the remuneration is also very good .
