Samosas are the ideal Indian snack. When guests arrive at your home unexpectedly, or evening hunger pangs struck you, or it is raining outside, Samosas should always be there to accompany you.
We are eating Samosas since our childhood, and to the extent, that now the usual samosas seem boring to us. But now there are available many other alternatives for potato which can be used as a delicious filling for potatoes. Here is one such recipe of a unique kind of Samosa, which has onion and cottage cheese (paneer) as filling.
Ingredients:
• Semolina: 250 gm
• Mustard seed: ½ spoon
• Oil: Enough for deep frying
• Onions: 3
• Cottage Cheese (Paneer): 500 gm
• Salt: According to taste
• Red Chili powder: 1 spoon
• Amchoor: ½ spoon
• Cumin: ½ spoon
• Paste of ginger and green chilies -1/4 spoon
Method:
• Take a big bowl, and mix semolina, mustard seeds, salt and two spoonful of oil with water in it. Knead the mixture into a dough.
• In a frying pan. Pour two spoon oil, heat it, and then add cumin in the hot oil. When cumin turn red, add the paste of ginger and green chilies, and stir. Then add onions.
• In the pan, add grated cottage cheese. Then add red chili powder, salt and amchoor, and stir well. Then turn the gas stove off.
• Make small balls of the dough you knead, and roll each ball with the rolling pin like tortillas. Cut each circle and take it in your hand, making the shape of a samosa.
• Now take the filling you prepared and stuff it.
• Apply some water in the corners and close the samosas.
• Now heat oil in the frying pan and deep fry your samosas.
Serve hot samosas with chutney and tea.
