No protein shake is not necessary for gym.
What decides the requirement for protein supplement, is the nutrient composition of your current diet and the intensity and frequency of your workout.
Just consuming protein powder is not the shortcut to Fitness. What determines your level of physical fitness, is you following, a professionally planned fitness routine and a balanced diet. Protein powder is not a substitute for a healthy diet, it is a supplement.

Not really sure how much protein is there in the Soy Chap, but from the looks of it you are not meeting your daily requirement.

Also depending upon your fitness level, you’ll need higher quantities of protein. Taking whey is no big deal and if you feel your diet is cutting you short then add one scoop.

Or just add another ltr of milk. Should be enough!
