Selection Day can be considered binge-worthy if you enjoy slow-burning sports dramas mixed with family pressure, teenage struggles, and emotional storytelling. The series is based on Selection Day and revolves around two brothers pushed into professional cricket by their strict father.

Many viewers praised the performances of Mohammad Samad, Rajesh Tailang, and the realistic portrayal of ambition and pressure in Indian cricket culture. Critics also appreciated its emotional depth and character-driven storytelling.

However, some reviews felt the pacing was slow and the plot lacked strong cliffhangers compared to more addictive Netflix dramas.

So, if you like thoughtful coming-of-age dramas and cricket-based stories, it may feel engaging. But if you prefer fast-paced thrillers, it might feel a bit slow.

From the trailer, it doesn’t look anything extraordinary. See for yourself:

No wonder Indian game on Netflix is going strong, with the series like Sacred Games, Lust Stories, and others. Selection Day, however, is not as good as the above-mentioned series, but still, it can be watched safely.

The series is an adaptation of a trusted Indian writer, Aravind Adiga’s best-seller novel of the same name. Its story deals with two boys who are carrying on their shoulders the burden of their father’s dreams. Does this ring a bell? If not, let me break it for you. The series will remind you of Dangal, which has the same story line.

It also has a fantastical touch, as one of the two main characters is shown talking to a godly figure, who dresses like a hippie, every now and then. This addition seems baseless and unnecessary, but at least it is tolerable.

Over all, the series is not bad, and won’t disappoint you. Many of those who have watched the movie, are even demanding a second series, even though the whole story has been neatly wrapped up in 6 episodes.
