Intragroup communication is the act of communicating between members of a group or team. This type of communication is different from interpersonal communication, which occurs between two or more people. Intragroup communication can also be referred to as intra-team, intra-group, and work-group communications. It is used to share information and coordinate activities among members of a group in order to achieve a common goal or achieve the best possible outcome for the whole team. Intragroup communication helps teams work together in order to prepare for new tasks or big goals that could potentially require coordination across multiple time zones, change management issues, and/or cross functional integration.

Intragroup communication is simply the act of communicating within the same group. Intragroups often refer to small groups, such as a family unit or two people working at a company.

Different types of intras emerge based on what you are doing together - for instance, familial intras can come about when sharing meals, talking with each other about personal issues, and so on. Intras can also be academic in nature - for example, group project intros or individual quizzes that the whole group completes together- rather than one person per one quiz sheet.
