The Luna, half moon, or sickle of the moon, also known as the fading and rising lunar surface, is a goddess and is associated with life and death in many religions. It pinpoints the feminine menstrual cycle, changing seasons, ebb and tide (and related inundations as harbingers of fertility), and the ebb and tide (and related inundations) as harbingers of fertility. Luna, and more particularly Luna, were both associated with the half moon. It was eventually passed to Diana (Artemis), the earth mother's progeny who was regarded not just as a virgin but also as a protector of newborns and a reproductive emblem with her own right.

There are many facts about the moon. One of these facts is that, according to NASA, the moon is 2160 miles in diameter. The circle of light on the face of Earth when it reflects light from its own sun, or when lit by other sources is called a crescent moon. A crescent moon has significance in many major world religions because it's associated with new beginnings and acts as a metaphor for rebirths. A basic religious interpretation says that God created life on earth after six days and then rested on the seventh day, leaving behind a crescent shape in the sky to represent his resting place.
