To make red sauce pasta, first boil pasta in salted water until soft but slightly firm. Drain the water and keep the pasta aside.
For the sauce, heat olive oil or butter in a pan and sauté chopped garlic and onions. Add tomato puree or finely chopped tomatoes and cook until the sauce thickens. Then add salt, black pepper, chili flakes, oregano, and a little ketchup if you want a slightly sweet taste.
You can also add vegetables like capsicum, corn, mushrooms, or olives. Mix the boiled pasta into the sauce and cook for 2–3 minutes so the flavors blend properly.
