whats the difference betweeen mercury thermometer and the one with alcohol?

The main difference between a mercury thermometer and an alcohol thermometer is the liquid used inside and how they react to temperature changes.Mercury thermometers use mercury which expands uniformly and gives very accurate readings especially at higher temperatures,while alcohol thermometers use colored alcohol which is better for measuring very low temperatures because it has a lower freezing point.Alcohol is also safer since mercury is toxic if the thermometer breaks,but mercury thermometers are generally more precise and easier to read.So in simple terms mercury is used for accuracy at higher temperatures while alcohol is preferred for lower temperatures and safer handling.
