I don’t think most boys actually hate BTS or K-pop. What they react to is discomfort. When they see girls openly admiring BTS, it triggers insecurity and comparison. BTS members are emotionally expressive, respectful, well-presented, and confident - qualities many boys were never encouraged to develop or even value growing up. Instead of seeing it as a different kind of masculinity, it feels easier to mock it.
There’s also an ego factor. Some boys subconsciously expect female attention to be automatic. When girls choose to admire someone who doesn’t fit the traditional “macho” image, it feels like a loss of control or relevance. That discomfort often turns into trolling or dismissive jokes.
The uncomfortable truth is that this reaction says less about BTS and more about how poorly many boys are taught emotional intelligence, self-worth, and communication. It’s not a music issue - it’s an identity issue.
