The kind of society we live in has set in cement roles for particular genders which have been so imbibed in our heads that we even as aware and open minded individuals succumb to them automatically. So,having a baby within a certain age has become a social norm for women and men both which if not followed entails backlash from society, especially for women. But having a child does not necessarily need to mean total abandonment of one’s professional life which is generally what happens and what people think should happen. But,this is not necessarily always the case. Having an ambition and a child is not ‘supposed’ to work as usually said but it can if one wants it to. There is some kind of external support and understanding provided to women like the provision of paid maternity leaves in almost all organisations. Now even the concept of paternity leave is coming up due to the positive change coming around. Also if one’s ambition is strong and unbridled enough noone and nothing can or will stand in one’s way.
