The movie “Ata Pata Laapata”, was directed by Rajpal Yadav only, who also played the lead role in the movie. Produced by his wife Radha Yadav, the movie had Asrani, Om Puri, Ashutosh Rana, Manoj Joshi, Govind Namdeo, Dara Singh, Vikram Gokhale, Vijay Raaz, and Satyadev Dubey, and other actors. It was released in 2012.

Since then, Rajpal Yadav is unable to re-pay the loan of Rs. 5 crore he took from a businessman in Delhi. It has been reported that he tried to pay the loan through a cheque which was bounced, and that led to a case filed upon him and his wife earlier as well. Karkardooma court sentenced them for jail for the time period of 6 months but they were released on bail.
