Every year a number of data breaches take place which make public the financial details of thousands of people all across the globe. Apart from bank account details, these can also be credit and debit card details. Hackers are always on the lookout for vulnerable accounts because such details fetch a good price on the black market.

Credit cards are an important part of our lives and as long as we use them there will always be hackers who will try to steal information from it. The entire onus being careful thus lies with us. Here are thus some methods using which we can make credit cards more secure more hackers -

Replacement Card

If you have been notified about a data breach of which you have been a part of, ask your credit card company to other furnish a new card in place of the old one or close your account permanently.

Check your Account

Keep checking your account on a regular basis and do not wait for the monthly statement to arrive. If you find any suspicious activity or transaction which you are sure has not been made by, then challenge it immediately.

Phishing Scams

Even if the hackers have your credit card number does not mean that they will also have the date of expiry and the CVV number. So, do not sign up for any scam where a hacker might send an email asking for the rest of the information.

There are some cards available these days which come with zero-fraud liability cover to protect against threats of cybercrime. One such card is the Bajaj Super credit card. It has the benefits of four cards in one. These include - credit card, cash card, loan card, and EMI card rolled in one.

To keep your credit card safe, don’t share your details or OTP with anyone and avoid saving your card on unknown sites. Use trusted platforms, enable transaction alerts, and check your statements regularly. Also, use strong passwords and avoid making payments on public Wi-Fi.
