Even with a mediocre performance by batsmen, India managed to win against Australia in the nail-biter first test in the ongoing four-match test series.

The victory was momentous in many ways. It was India’s first test match win in Australia in 10 years. Also, it is also the very first time that India has won the first match of a test series on Australian soil.
The win against Australia is also very important given before even the series started, Australian media welcomed Indian cricket team by calling them “Scaredy Bats”, suggesting that the India-side have fundamental issues with the venues where the four test matches are to be played. The report on the tabloid said that India is “scared of the dark” in Brisbane. Well, the team certainly proved this wrong.

This first test match win against Australia is going to be very critical for India in bolstering its mental state. After a rather very disappointing series in England, the team needed this victory to get its confidence back.
Personally, I believe India will win the Test series against Australia. The batting line-up failed to be as effective in both the innings of the first match. But the bowlers did a commendable job. If Ashwin, Shami, and Bumrah maintain their current form, there’s virtually no stopping for the Indian side.
Besides, seeing captain Virat Kohli grooving on the field amid the tense match against Australia was interesting. It showed the kind of relaxed mindset he and the rest of the team are in this series. And this is very important to win the series.
