Everyone waits for the time of the year when the Indian Premier League conducts a professional Twenty20 cricket league and this league was founded by the BCCI (Board of control for cricket in India) in the year 2007. This year also the IPL started with the sponsorship of Vivo. But the situation was getting worse amidst corona rising cases. The matches were postponed after the increasing cases of corona emerged inside the bio- bubble with players and staffs especially from Kolkata knight riders, sunrise Hyderabad and Chennai super kings testing positive in succession. About 29 matches were held this season before the tournament came to a pause. IPL had been postponed on 4th May after this.

On Saturday the Vice President BCCI Rajeev Shukla announced that the remainder of the Indian premier league (IPL) 2021 will be resumed in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The board has decided to organise the remainder of the matches in September and October because the monsoon season in India takes place in those months. The decision was taken at the BCCI's Special General Meeting (SGM) which was virtually held on Saturday where members unanimously agreed to resume IPL. The same thing was done last year also. The marquee tournament was shifted to the gulf due to a surge of Covid -19 cases earlier in 2020. The event was organised for nearly 2 months from 19 September to 10 th November and that turned out to be a grand success.
