In a survey conducted by LocalCircles, for a question asked whether they had received counterfeit products in the last six months, 20% people answered yes. The survey was shared with Times of India. According to the questionnaire, 35% of products in fragrances and cosmetics were fake. And 22% of fake goods were received in sports goods and 8% fakes in bags.
And for another question in the survey, which e commerce site sends the most number of fake products, the answer was Snapdeal with 37%, Flipkart 22%, Paytm mall 21% and 20 people said Amazon.
When TOI sends the questions and their answers to ecommerce majors, all of them responded that they have strict policy to curb selling fake items. The ecommerce people also said that they even offers free refunds to customers who got fake products. Moreover they explained that the ecommerce company will delist the fake products suppliers if found guilty.
Fake products are a universal problem for e-tailers as they depend on third party to sell goods in their site. Amazon and Alibaba are also facing this problem in the US. The US government issued warning to Alibaba group to make effort to stop counterfeit products entering in US.
Black Friday is in the corner and Christmas New Year sales will start soon. The respected government should take strict actions against these e-tailers who are selling fake products and ask them to somehow check their products whether it is original or fake.
