The Netflix released a comedy-drama film in 2019, which was directed by Jeff Tremaine: The Dirt. It was about a heavy metal band, Mötley Crüe. Now, as per the question, yes, the story is basically a collection of incidents that happened with Tommy and Elaine, and other members of the band. The Netflix film is originally adapted from the autobiographical book, The Dirt: Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band by Neil Strauss, Tommy Lee, Mick Mars, Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx. Made on a nominal budget for $23.1 Million, The Dirt had to go through rough track before getting final release date. Numerous directors and casts had to be changed, the film finally getting released on March 22, 2019.
The film follows events that led to the rise of Mötley Crüe band and its final downfall. Like, Frank parts his way from family and befriending Tommy Lee, a new notion of forming band dawning, and Mick Mars joining the band as guitarist, Vince Neil finally joining as lead vocalist, and eventually naming the band; Motley Crue.
Much in same way as an arrogant superstar, the band members soon went off track, engaging in stupid brawls, becoming addict to heroin and alcohol, partying till morning, all this while performing or on world tour. Many members had to let go of the band and new men were recruited. And just like every story, this one too has a happy ending as Nikki regroups with Tommy and Mick, and they performing happily for upcoming shows. The Dirt Story, consequently, is a perfect film that depicted the backdrop of what happened in the life of Tommy and Elaine.
