There is currently no conclusive evidence of life on Mars, but there are several indications that suggest the possibility of past or present microbial life on the planet.
One of the most significant findings comes from the discovery of organic molecules, which are the building blocks of life, in Martian rocks by NASA's Curiosity rover in 2018. The rover also detected methane, which is a gas that is produced by some living organisms, in the Martian atmosphere. However, the presence of organic molecules and methane does not necessarily mean that there is or was life on Mars, as these can also be produced by non-biological processes.
Future missions to Mars, such as NASA's Perseverance rover and the European Space Agency's Rosalind Franklin rover, will continue to search for evidence of past or present microbial life on the planet through the analysis of Martian rocks and soil samples.
