Uh…well…that’s hard to say. I don’t think we should compare Priyanka Chopra’s “Isn’t it Romantic” role with her other Hollywood roles, like that in Baywatch and Quantico, because in them, she at least had good screen time. In the Rom-Com parody “Isn’t it Romantic”, her role is as short as anything.
Since there is not much to talk about her role (that of a Yoga Ambassador) played in the movie, I’ll be talking about it, along with the movie.
So Priyanka Chopra plays a Femme Fatale Yoga Ambassador (an unconventional career, for which she is even trolled by the protagonist in the movie), who is hot enough to steal the best friend and potential boyfriend of the over-weight protagonist, played by Ruben Wilson. The character that she plays is somewhat similar to those she has played in Bollywood movies. The only difference is that here she used to get a better and longer screen time.
We all know that Mrs. Chopra Jonas is a good actor and hence whatever the role she is given in the movie, she has played as gracefully and beautifully as she always does. Despite being shown in rather skimpy clothes (to parody the Hollywood Rom-Com stereotype of Femme Fatales), the Quantico actress is a delight to eyes.
As for the movie, it is a parody of the conventional Hollywood Rom-Coms. It satirizes the notions of a fairy tale love story and simultaneously celebrates it with the self-awareness that such things only happen in movies.
The movie starts with a young Ruben Wilson who idolizes the romantic movies like Pretty Woman but grows up to have a cynical attitude of the world, thanks to her mom. She is already convinced that romantic love is not for the girls like her when she hits herself and is transported into an alternate universe where the things are different for good. In this universe, the hot Agent Blake (played by Liam Hemsworth) is head over heels in love with Wilson.
So the movie is pretty good and light and will entertain you throughout, provided you are not just going for watching Priyanka Chopra.
