The Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, suggested including milk in the Mid-day Meal scheme.
He recommended that milk should be served to school children under this programme. His reasoning was simple — milk provides essential nutrition like calcium and protein that growing children need, and many children in India, especially from poorer families, rarely get to drink milk at home.
He made this suggestion while highlighting the need to improve the nutritional quality of mid-day meals, not just fill children's stomachs but actually support their physical and mental growth.
