When I was in school, I used to think conservation of resources simply meant planting more trees. Later, I realized it's a much broader concept. Every day, we use resources like water, electricity, fuel, forests, and minerals, but most of us don't stop to think about the fact that many of these resources are limited.

That's where conservation of resources becomes important.

What Does Conservation of Resources Mean?

Conservation of resources means using natural resources wisely and responsibly so they don't get exhausted and remain available for future generations. It isn't about stopping the use of resources altogether. Instead, it's about avoiding unnecessary waste and making sure we use them in a sustainable way.

For example, turning off lights when you leave a room or fixing a leaking tap may seem like small actions, but they help conserve electricity and water.

Why Is It Important?

Natural resources such as water, forests, coal, petroleum, and minerals are essential for our daily lives. Some of them take millions of years to form, while others can disappear if they're used carelessly.

If we continue wasting these resources, future generations may face shortages of clean water, energy, and other basic necessities.

That's why conservation isn't just an environmental issue but also about protecting our quality of life.

Simple Ways to Conserve Resources

Conserving resources doesn't always require big changes. Even simple habits can make a difference.

  • Save water by turning off taps when they're not needed.

It is very important to secure the natural resources for the future generation. This is also known as sustainable development. Conservation of resources means carefully using and maintaining the natural resources. It is very important to save them from being vanished from nature. Natural resources are those which are connected to nature. For instance, soil, air, water, plants, animals and other energy. Humans should keep a level of usage of natural resources as these are the main reason for the existence of living organisms also on the Earth.

Conservation of Natural Resources
Natural resources are vital to our survival. Everything in our environment is made of materials that have been collected from nature in some way. As a result, natural resource conservation, also known as environmental conservation, is a critical job in moving toward a more sustainable economy that considers their availability for future generations.
 
Conservation refers to the meticulous preservation and upkeep of a natural resource in order to avoid it from becoming extinct. Natural resources are the physical supplies of things found in nature, such as soil, water, air, plants, animals, and energy.
 
What are natural resources and their importance
Any exploitable element of nature is defined as a "natural resource." Natural resources include water, soil, minerals, oxygen, organic matter, animal beings, plants, and fungi, among others.
Each of these aspects has features that allow us to use them in different ways, and they are also threatened by diverse circumstances, resulting in management that is unique to each.
Natural gas is methane gas that has built up on the surface of oil fields. The decomposition of organic materials also produces methane gas, which is referred to as "biogas." Biomethanizers are used in many wastes’ treatment and water purification plants, which has increased production.
Other natural resources are created in such huge quantities that they are regarded as unlimited or renewable. Sunlight, wind, and other natural phenomena are examples. These resources significantly outnumber our ability to consume them and are generated outside of our control.
 
What is the overexploitation of natural resources?
We will be overexploiting the resource if we consume it quicker than it is generated. If this overexploitation continues, either with highly intensive activity over short periods of time (eg oil) or with moderate but constant activity (e.g. utilizing the floor), the resource will be completely depleted, causing major environmental and economic damage.
 
Examples of overexploitation:
#1 Farming
One of the elements that depletes the soil the most is monoculture agriculture. The soil has a diverse composition, containing a wide range of minerals that plants require for growth. However, not all plants need the same amount of the same mineral in the same proportion. As a result, a specific plant will use a specific mineral until it is depleted from the soil, resulting in the resource's depletion.
 
#2 Fishing and hunting
Species reproduce at a faster rate than their habitat can support under normal circumstances. As a result, there is always a certain rate of mortality, or "surplus," that we may dispose of. When this surplus or replacement rate is exceeded, intensive fishing and hunting become unsustainable, especially if the size of the hatchlings or juveniles is not taken into account.
 
Why do we talk about Environmental Conservation?
More than ever, it is necessary in the face of the deterioration of the environment, the environmental care and conservation of all the resources of nature. Lately, importance is being given to everything related to caring for the environment. In order to correct the current ecological imbalance. Human activities have a negative impact on the environment, ecosystems, and the diversity of species on the globe.
 
What is it?
Given the multitude of environmental issues harming humanity's health, environmental conservation is a must. All-natural resources must be exploited and used responsibly as part of this conservation. Every country's economic prosperity and wealth are dependent on environmental conservation. It must ensure that nature, the environment, or the planet is in the best possible condition.

For a better world, citizens, in collaboration with the state, which bears primary responsibility for protecting the environment for its own benefit, must encourage and implement the following environmental conservation measures:
  • Environmental Education is the most powerful tool for ensuring natural resource protection and behavior change.
  • Children should be taught about environmental issues from an early age.
  • Implement new rules and laws to regulate natural resource decline.
  • Execute environmental impact assessments and evaluations for the country's development initiatives and operations.
  • To maintain ecosystems healthy, promote environmental sanitation.
  • Use water and electricity rationally, use solar energy, and unplug appliances, among other things.
  • Maintain the community's places in good condition through initiatives, campaigns, or days of area or ecosystem maintenance.

#1 Environmental management:

Reduced economic growth based on material consumption until a point of equilibrium is reached.
