An eCheck or electronic check is a type of personal or business check which is used to pay by transferring money between bank accounts. It is different from other types of checks because they are made online and do not require using a physical piece of paper. They usually don't require the signature that a paper check would need. These payments can be made through Square, PayPal, Venmo, Amazon Payments and more.
Echecks are becoming more common due to convenience and safety concerns over physical checks in their vulnerable state. Online banking services allow people to scan through scanned images of their checks from home or the office which prevents them from being lost, misplaced or stolen when they're sent via mail or dropped off with a postman at your door.
