  • Skydiving usually involves jumping from an airplane from a very high altitude.
  • Paragliding starts from hills, mountains, or elevated areas using a parachute-like wing.
  • Skydiving includes a period of free fall before the parachute opens.
  • Paragliding focuses more on gliding smoothly through the air for longer durations.
  • Skydiving is generally faster, more intense, and adrenaline-filled.
  • Paragliding is often considered calmer and more scenic.
  • Special training and safety gear are important for both activities.
  • Skydiving usually lasts only a few minutes, while paragliding can continue much longer depending on weather conditions.

Honestly, skydiving feels more like an extreme thrill experience, while paragliding is often chosen for peaceful aerial views and adventure together.

Do you know what’s the main difference between skydiving and paragliding?

In paragliding, you are first driven up a hill with your paragliding gear. Once at the top, you are attached to a parachute. This is secured safely. A trainer is also a part of the equipment to your aid in addition to the paragliding gear and you jump off the cliff with the expert. The duration of your flight depends on the amount you have paid and the package that you have opted for. There is no prior teaching. You are only specifically told that, while landing, you must keep running and not just stand still or you’re bound to fall to the ground. Paragliding gear is easily available.

Though most people confuse skydiving and paragliding, in the case of skydiving, you need a little initial training to know the mechanisms. Then, you jump off a chopper or a helicopter. In this instance too, the expert jumps with you. You may take the leap of faith alone but you need training for that or you will be risking your life. Once afloat, your parachute is opened and you feel nothing less than a bird. Compared to the paragliding gear, skydiving gear is costlier.

It must be noted that the main difference between skydiving and paragliding is of the height. In simple word, paragliding is jumping off a hill while skydiving is jumping off a helicopter.
