From May 23, 2023, any person who has possession of a Rs. 2,000.00 note can now get it exchanged for any of the other denominations. This is because the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has put a out a statement that the Rs. 2,000.00 currency note will no longer be considered legal after the 30th of September, 2023 according to the legal tender. However, till then, one can still use it and can also start getting it exchanged for other denominations simultaneously. Now to get the Rs. 2000.00 notes exchanged, here are some guidelines you can follow to make your job easier:
- First, visit the bank branch which is closest to you along with your Rs. 2,000.00 currency notes.
- Take the requisition slip and fill in the details which are required to start the exchange process of the Rs. 2,000.00 notes.
- Finally, submit the slip along with all the Rs. 2,000.00 currency notes that you brought with you.
However, one thing that you have to make sure to remember before you go and do this is that every bank also has its own guidelines along with these or except these. So, make sure to read beforehand what your bank expects you to do. Also, the maximum limit to exchange your Rs. 2,000.00 notes is a total of Rs. 20,000.00.
