Malaria is one of the most prevalent diseases in Africa. It is caused by a parasite spread through mosquitoes. These mosquitoes breed in swamps, on puddles, and around stagnant water. The first symptoms are usually fever and chills, but if you have malaria you may also have headaches or vomiting that can progress to seizures. You may pass out or develop a rash that will appear on your chest at the same time as your fever breaks.
The final stage sees some people hallucinating after their fever ends, which can last for many days.
