The above tax slabs are the GST and Additional Cess rates that should be paid on the basis of base price which is called as ex-showroom price of a car in India. Electric vehicles has the lowest tax which is of 12 % where followed by the SUV which has ground clearance has the highest tax which is 50% (28% GST+22% Additional Cess). The market is now playing with the ground clearance where they mention the SUV ground clearance less than 170 to fall in the tax slab of 48% instead 50%. Since most of the SUV ground clearance are not mentioned in their websites nor brochures.
