Elections’ Code of Conduct are the guidelines given by the Election Commission and which are compulsory to be followed by every government office, official, minister, and department. Election Commission also appoints invigilators to see if the Code of Conduct is being followed by all the candidates and parties.

This Code of Conduct is imposed as soon as elections are announced, and all the government departments start working under the Election Commission.
One of the clauses of the Code of Conduct state that after the announcement of elections, no minister can announce any developmental policy or can’t start any work of development in her area. They can’t even appoint new employees in any department. Any kind of set up which may favor the ruling party or any candidate belonging to it is stopped and limited.
If a candidate doesn’t follow the Code of Conduct his participation in the elections can be canceled and she can also face legal action against her.
All the political parties are bound to follow this Code of Conduct. The Election Commission gives various guidelines under this Code of Conduct in every Lok Sabha Election and releases them through various mediums.
