Vijay Diwas is celebrated on December 16 to mark India's victory over Pakistan in the war of 1971. This war led to the creation of Bangladesh. On 16th of December, Pakistan surrendered in Dhaka and that is why the day honours the Indian Army's sacrifices. It is called Vijay Diwas as it depicts Indian armed forces’ strategic brilliance, which established its military excellence.
