Diabetes is when your body has trouble using food for energy. There are two kinds: type 1, where your body fights itself, and type 2, where your body can't use insulin properly.

Diabetes can make you very sick, even if you're young. It can cause heart problems, strokes, blindness, kidney trouble, and losing body parts.

In India, lots of people have diabetes. In 2021, about 74.2 million Indians had it. By 2030, it could be 109.2 million!

Young Indians are at risk too. In 2017, 13.4% of them had diabetes. That's more than the world average, which is 10.5%.

Why? Well, Indians can be overweight, and that's a big reason for type 2 diabetes. Also, they don't move around much, which is another risk. And their food isn't always healthy - too much fat and sugar can make them gain weight and get diabetes.

Diabetes can be really bad for young Indians. It can make them die early, be sick, and have money problems. So, it's important for them to know the risks and do things to stop diabetes.
