An established ideology known as "white supremacy" holds that white people are naturally superior to persons of various ethnic origins, especially Black and non-white people. Throughout the past, this philosophy has been a widespread and negative influence that has shaped societies, institutions, and personal views. We will explore the causes, expressions, and effects of white supremacy.

The transatlantic slave trade, which started in the 15th century, and the period of European colonialism are when white supremacy first emerged. European nations established their influence throughout this period by enslaving and conquest non-European peoples, particularly in Africa, the Americas, and Asia. They created a set of ideologies to support these activities, positioning white Europeans as ethically upright, culturally superior, and justified to profit from and rule over others. White supremacy was founded on this idea, and it still exists in numerous ways today.

The institution of enslavement in the US, which lasted for about 250 years, was one of the greatest overt and horrific examples of white supremacy. The dehumanization of Black people, who were viewed as commodities and denied fundamental human rights, was the foundation of enslavement. Racist ideas that Black people were inherently less worthy and best suited for service served as justification for this oppressive system.

There are other countries where white supremacy exists. It has been a worldwide phenomenon that has taken diverse forms in various regions of the world. For instance, white supremacist ideals were thrust on colonized peoples via colonialism, leaving behind long-lasting legacies of injustice and prejudice in nations throughout Africa, Asia, and the Americas. The presumed ethnic superiority of European powers served as justification for their control and plunder of native populations.

In modern society, white superiority also manifests itself in more covert, concealed manners. Racial discrimination in these areas includes law enforcement job opportunities, housing, and education. Black and other non-white populations continue to be substantially affected by systemic prejudice, which keeps the gaps in access to opportunities and resources alive. Stereotypes and implicit prejudices continue to exist, which support injustice and unfair treatment.

With the rise of extreme right-wing extremism and hate groups in current years, white supremacy has come under more and more scrutiny. These organizations frequently promote violence and hatred against racial and religious minorities by endorsing white supremacist ideology. The perils of unrestrained white supremacy in contemporary society have been brought to light by terrorist attacks perpetrated by persons motivated by these beliefs.

The effects of white supremacy are extensive and lasting. It maintains inequality and discrimination, reducing non-white people's chances and well-being. Additionally, it splits off groups, generating distrust and hostility.

In summary, white supremacy is a philosophy with a long history that has influenced organizations, societies, and people's views. Its roots can be found in slavery and colonial rule, and it still exists today in a variety of forms, maintaining racial injustice and prejudice. It takes a deliberate effort to question and destroy structural racism, advance equality and inclusion, and aggressively battle racist ideas and behaviors in order to address white supremacy.
