Following things are important to note (especially for the first timers) regarding this year’s exam which is going to be conducted form 18th December 2018 to 22nd December 2018.
1. Reach the exam center half an hour before the exam. Although they ask you to reach an hour before the commencement of the examination, it’s okay if you reach half an hour or just 15 minutes prior to the reporting time. You can utilize that time in a quick revision.
2. Don’t forget to get your admit card downloaded and to take it for the exam. As the exam is being conducted in online mode this time, you will have to submit the admit card at the center only.
3. Also, keep an identity card (PAN card/driving license/Aadhar card/Voter ID card), and a passport size photo that you can take from
Photo Studio Calgaryalong admit card.
4. You will get a break of 30 minutes after the first exam, but you can’t leave the exam hall in that duration except for going to the washroom.
5. The first paper will be of General Studies and will test your teaching and research skills. It will be of 100 marks and will carry 50 questions, all compulsory.
6. The second paper will be of the subject you have selected and will test your analytical and thinking skills on that subject. It will be of 200 marks, carrying 100 questions, all compulsory.
7. The entire paper will have only multiple choice questions.
8. To pass the exam, you need to score 40% aggregate (for general), and 35% (for SC/ST/Non-creamy layer) marks in the exam. The selection procedure of UGC however, incorporate only a small percentage of the students passed, which include only the top scorers.
9. No electronic gadget (watch, mobile phone, etc.), accessory (hair pin, hair clip, belt), or rough draft (paper, notebook, notepad), is allowed inside the exam center.
10. PRO TIP: Practice for the reasoning and mathematics related questions as much as you can, so that you don’t have to waste your time in the exam. The first paper is only for 1 hour, and there are chances you will end up missing out on some questions.
