About 1.5 lakh doses of Sputnik V, COVID-19 Vaccine arrived in India on Saturday from Russia. The Government declared that from 1st May 2021 onwards the citizens above 18 years of age will be vaccinated. But due to a shortage of vaccine, it was not possible.
The consignment of vaccines reached Hyderabad on 1st May 2021, Saturday. From sources, it has been told that it would take some time nearly about two weeks for the vaccine to reach the people because it would be first examined and then will be provided to the hospitals and health centers.

The testing process will be carried out in Central Drugs Laboratory at Kasauli in Himachal Pradesh. Only the first dose of the age category above 18+ came and it is expected that we will get the second dose within this month only.
The price of the Sputnik V will also be announced within this week which is confirmed by Deepak Sapra, CEO of Dr Reddy’s Laboratories. In September 2020 The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) joined together with DR.Reddy’s for the trial process of Sputnik V in India. RDIF has made several deals with different Pharma Companies in India for the larger production of Vaccine.
A total of six units have been selected for the production and manufacture of the COVID-19 vaccine, Sputnik V. Deepak Sapra also confirmed that two of these units will supply vaccine by June-July, the other two by August and the remaining two are expected to supply by September-October. During the trial process of the newly arrived vaccine in laboratories, the effectiveness of the vaccine also been tested against the second wave of Covid-19.
